You can’t cook Mediterranean food without coarse sea salt. Have you ever cooked fish or meat in a salt coating or on a bed of salt? It’s a real experience – not just when you eat it, but also when you prepare it. Coarse sea salt is also fantastic for seasoning large pieces of meat or fish, as it dissolves more slowly than fine sea salt and therefore penetrates the food gradually. Not only does it sound delicious, it really is.

What happens before the big bag of sea salt inspires you to come up with great ideas? Well, that’s easy to explain: The coarse salt crystals initially grow on the surface of the water. The larger they grow, the further they sink into the deeper layers of the sea salt ponds. As soon as evaporation is complete, they are harvested from the salt marshes.
